Liverpool One…
My earlier Liverpool One image seems to have been well received so here’s a bonus post featuring different aspects of the steps that criss-cross the escalators, which I also hope you enjoy.
Thank you to everyone for the “hearts” on the first image and to Claudine, Alejandro and Edouard for their comments… very much appreciated.
50 Years of The Beatles…
The Magical Mystery Girls (are waiting to take you away!) - psychedelia lives!
Liverpool Skyline, a World Heritage Site…
From the left: The Liver Building (1908-11 by Walter Aubrey Thomas); The Cunard Building (1916 by Arthur J Davis); The Mersey Docks and Harbour Board (1903-07 by Briggs and Wolstenholme with Hobbs and Thorneley); Mann Island and The Liverpool Museum (completed 2012); the Anglican Cathedral (1904-1978 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott); and The Albert Dock (1843-47 by Jesse Hartley). The ferry is Royal Daffodil owned and operated by Mersey Ferries, and made famous by Gerry and The Pacemakers in the hit song “Ferry Cross the Mersey”.
50 Years of The Beatles…
On 26 and 27 August the Mathew Street Festival took place. The main Beatle action was due to take place on 27th but high winds and heavy rain put paid to the outdoor shows where the tribute bands were due to appear. There were pockets of Beatlemania on the Sunday including this Blue Meanie from the ‘Yellow Submarine’ movie.
Night and the City…
One of my favourite structures in Liverpool; the trapezoidal bridge connecting the John Lewis store with the Liverpool One multi-storey car park. I felt it really suited monochrome
Musicians #16…
I’ve featured this street musician before (here) when he also attracted the attentions of a young lady.
