The Survivor…
Despite a high tide, this little structure survived for another day.
Contemplation…
What chance two gentlemen sitting quietly thinking how beautiful Llandwyn island is.
Storm Over Rhosneigr…
IMHO possibly the best image I’ve taken with the X10 - minimal processing, just a conversion to mono in Silver Efex Pro 2. I am so pleased with this camera!
Evening Light (pink cloud)…
I’ve been experimenting with Niksoft’s rather excellent mobile ‘phone editing app, Snapspeed, over the weekend. I took this image using the also excellent 6x6 camera app at Beaumaris on the island of Anglesey on Saturday evening. The quality of 6x6’s images & the editing power of Snapspeed make for a very good combination and I’m very pleased with the results. I’ll be reviewing some of my favourite iPhone photography apps in the near future.
A few months ago I was commissioned by the Friends of St. Cross to produce two images for the waiting room of one of the wards at St. Cross Hospital in Rugby, UK. Well, they’re done and here they are hanging in the waiting room in Willow Ward at the hospital. I’ve featured both images here previously but not as 30”x20” canvases! If you want to see the original posts click the St. Cross Hospital tag in your browser.
Needless to say, I’m very happy with the finished images, which I popped down to see a few days ago.
In the Style Of… Paul Gallagher
Two images to support my post yesterday about one of my photography heroes, Paul Gallagher.
The first image, “Perfect Summer Day”, is taken at the north-western tip of Llyn Padarn at Llanberis in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.
The second image is also from North Wales but at Newborough beach on the Isle of Anglesey adjacent the island of Llandwyn. Here there is a sharp contrast of grass, sand and volcanic rock hence the title “A Path Through the Dunes”.
People I Meet #7…
Mrs Swain - Pie Maker Extraordinaire, Menai Bridge, Anglesey, North Wales
I’ve already published this image as part of a “photographers-invade-tag-food-at-weekends” photo set but I thought she deserved to be featured in the People I Meet series, too. If you missed the earlier post, Mrs Swain bakes probably the best pies ever! They are divine. Here she’s showing off a tray of her freshly baked pork pies, and very nice they are, too. But not as scrumptious as her chicken and ham ones; lots of meat and fabulous shortcrust pastry, fabulous gravy. If ever you’re in Menai Bridge do try one; you won’t be disappointed.
Food #14…
I made a visit to Menai Bridge Farmers Market last weekend and had an enjoyable hour talking and sampling food and making a few images. Enjoy… and I take no responsibility for any pangs of hunger!
