X10 - Test Results
Twenty-four hours down the road and here’s my continuing impressions of the X10.
I spent a little time last night reading the manual and setting the camera up - shutter priority, ISO200, 1/250th second, RAW+JPEG. It was a nice morning so I went to Nantwich, a small town near my home with some interesting architecture. I did all the shooting with the LCD monitor off using just the optical viewfinder mainly because I wanted to see how the camera handled the varied lighting conditions, focus and so on, that I threw at it.
I’ve been going through the results and here’s a small selection of images that I hope will give you a flavour of what it’s capable of. The one thing I’m really impressed with is the lens; it’s super sharp as you’ll see from the last two images. No tweaking anywhere - just straight lifts from the memory card.
Based on the first twenty-four hours I can honestly say that I’m very pleased with the X10.
Phrenzel asked me about the “white orb” issue; for those of you that don’t know there are occasionally aberrations on images resembling white orbs. As far as I am aware the issue has been fixed with the firmware update but Fuji are working on a sensor fix and those who want to have this upgrade can return their camera once it’s available. There’s no sign of the orbs on my images.
